In 1975, Vietnam became a communist
nation. It is one of the five remaining communist countries on Earth. This
government believes all religion to be “a threat to national security.” Even
though the Vietnamese government grants their people religious freedom, the
list of offenses can be interpreted broadly and therefore, Christians and
pastors are imprisoned on a daily basis. Vietnamese authorities have been
trying to take land away from the Catholic church in Ho Chi Min city by using pressure
tactics. The uncertainty of what is wrong and what is right for Christians to
practice makes it hard for them to spread their beliefs the way they would like
to. How would you feel if you were threatened daily because of your religion?
